How to Perform EMOM & Crossfit WOD Correctly

Healthy Living Tips

CrossFit is generally designed with a set weight. But, you can use lighter weights to have more challenging workouts. EMOM stands out because each workout has a time limit. Rest and then start over. You can only go so far with this type of workout if you use stereotypes about women or men.

Workouts of the day

Workout of the day (WOD) is an interval-based, pre-planned workout session that is designed to challenge the body and burn calories. CrossFit has three free WODs a day. But, while most gyms offer only one WOD per day, they also offer online supplemental programs and WODs that are tailored to each member's needs. The workouts of the days are usually done in teams with two to four people who share similar fitness goals.

Clean & Jerk

The Clean and Jerk is a explosive exercise that increases speed and strength of the abs, shoulders and traps. The two lifts can be performed in a sequence but it is not necessary to do them that way. On a competition platform you will likely train each lift separately. You should also keep in mind that the clean involves aggressive hip extension. The following tips will show you how to properly clean your hips.

Burpees

A Crossfit WOD requires you to perform burpees. First, burpees can be done in a relatively short amount of time. The WOD's goal to teach you how do difficult moves under fatigue is why the burpees must be performed at a slow pace. You should also avoid sprinting during the burpees themselves. If you are performing them as a WOD you should maintain a moderate pace and take a longer rest before you start the first rep. Burpees should be started immediately after you have completed the last rep. This will ensure that you get the maximum workout out of the burpees.

Deadlift

The weight of the deadlift bar must be close to the body when it is being lifted. Start by pivoting forward at the hips. While holding the bar near the body, maintain a long spine and flat feet. To maintain a firm grip, the bar should be held on the outside of your legs. Deadlifts are the most challenging lift in the Crossfit world, and they require the highest level of core strength.

Burpee variations

Start the first WOD slowly and increase the speed in the second. If you have trouble with burpees, try doing them in smaller sets. Once you know the WOD is short, you should go fast. While you can still do wall balls, it takes more focus. You can speed-up the second WOD to make it more difficult.

FAQ

Do weightlifting burn fat faster?

Weight lifting is a great way to burn fat faster but you need to do it together with cardio exercise.

To maximize the benefits of weightlifting, you need to perform it after cardio workouts.

If done correctly weightlifting can raise your heart rate, oxygen consumption and help you lose weight.

You will not notice any changes in your body composition if you don’t combine it and cardio.

Is Cardio Better Than Strength Training?

Both are equally beneficial. But cardio is a much better choice if you want to gain muscles faster.

Cardio burns more calories per hour than strength training, and also burns more fat.

Strength training builds muscle mass, but it takes longer to achieve this goal than cardio.

Is it true, that too much protein can cause kidney stones?

Protein helps maintain healthy bone and tissue. Too much protein can cause calcium to be excreted through the urine. This can lead kidney stones.

It is important to keep in mind that not everyone will develop kidney stones if they consume more protein than 2 grams per kilogram (2.2lbs). High amounts of protein can be consumed by some people without causing kidney stones.

By being careful with your sodium intake, you can prevent kidney stones. The kidneys regulate the amount of sodium they consume. High levels of sodium are linked to a greater risk of developing renal stones.

You can also try reducing your protein intake if you get kidney stones. About half of adults' daily caloric intake is made up of protein. A reduction in protein intake will likely result in weight loss.

If you do decide to eat more protein, don't go overboard. Try to eat less than 20% protein in total calories.

What diet supplement is best to lose weight?

Losing weight requires both diet and exercise. Some people find certain supplements helpful.

A few studies have suggested that omega-3 Fatty Acids might help weight loss. Omega-3s are essential fats that are important for brain function and cell membrane integrity. They are found in fish like salmon, tuna, shrimp and cod liver oil.

Another study suggests that green-tea might help with weight loss. Green tea contains catechins. These antioxidants may be able to increase metabolic rate and encourage weightloss.

What food should I avoid if I want to lose weight

Trans fats should be avoided. Trans fats raise LDL (the bad) cholesterol levels and reduce HDL (the good) cholesterol levels.

Trans fats can also be found in deep-fried food, fast food, packaged bakery goods, snack cakes, as well as other processed foods.

These unhealthy fats can also lead to inflammation, which can cause heart disease and diabetes.

Artificial sweeteners are also to be avoided. Artificial sweeteners increase the risk of getting cancer.

They are found in everything, from soft drinks to chewing tobacco to candy bars. These chemicals are also found in meat, poultry, eggs, and other foods.

Artificial sweeteners include saccharin and sorbitol.

The American Heart Association recommends avoiding these chemicals because they may damage DNA in cells.

A balanced diet contains all necessary nutrients for growth and development.

Consider eating six small meals daily instead of three big ones. This gives your body more time to digest the food you eat.

For strong bones, we need 500 mgs of calcium daily. Calcium can be found in dairy products such as yogurt, fortified soybean beverages, orange juice, cereals, bread, and cereals.

Calcium comes from leafy green vegetables, beans, tofu, nuts, seeds, and cheese.

Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption. Vitamin D is found in eggs yolk, fatty fish and fortified foods.

Vitamin E plays an important role in skin health. Vitamin E can be found in vegetable oils as well as wheat germ oil, peanuts and almonds.

Your body needs zinc for normal immunity function and wound healing. Zinc is found in oysters, legumes, meats, whole grains, and seafood.

Zinc deficiencies can lead to fatigue, decreased appetite, depression, and reduced immunity.

Sugar intake can lead to insulin resistance which causes blood glucose levels to rise. Insulin resistance leads to weight gain.

Insulin resistance occurs when the bloodstream is full of free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that have unpaired electrons, which can cause damage to cell membranes or other parts of your body.

Free radicals come mainly from food additives, pesticides, herbicides, preservatives, smoking, air pollution, radiation, chemicals in cosmetics, lotions, and household cleaning supplies.

Free radical damage can cause cancer, heart disease and diabetes, as well as arthritis, asthma, and other diseases.

The best way to avoid free radicals is to eat a balanced diet high in antioxidants. Antioxidants protect against oxidative damage.

Vitamin C, beta carotene (found within citrus fruits, carrots, sweet potatoes and spinach), Vitamin E (found inside nuts, olive oils, avocados and eggs), and Vitamin C (found among mangoes.

Additional antioxidant nutrients include selenium and copper, manganese and zinc.

Selenium helps protect cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Selenium can also be found in Brazil nuts (tuna), liver, kidneys and shrimp.

Copper protects the brain and eyes as well as the lungs and red blood cells. Copper is found in shellfishes, poultry, meat, organ meats, and other foods.

Manganese is essential for bone structure. Manganese can be found in brown rice and spinach as well as bananas, prunes raisins, oatmeal, lentils, and oatmeal.

Zinc helps with normal growth, reproduction, as well as wound healing. Zn is found in lean meats, poultry, white fish and eggs.
